What is the outside diameter of the 1" and 1.25" pipe insulation? Catalog says the insulation is 1". Is that all around for a total of 2" of insulation, or 1/2'' all around for a total of 1" of insulation?

The total outside diameter of the 1" pipe insulation would be 3.135" and 3.9" for the 1.25" pipe insulation. You would have a 1" thickness of insulation on either side of the opening.

The color is due to a new technology in the binder that produces a brown insulation. This new binder is based on rapidly renewable materials, and is free from formaldehyde, phenols, acrylics, artificial colors, bleaches or dyes.

No, Our insulation is fiberglass and fiberglass is not recommended with copper pipes, due to the condensation. Would need to find cold water polyethylene insulation or a vapor wick.

No, the pipe insulation we carry is meant for use on steam pipes that will have almost no condensation on them. The condensation would have a negative effect on the fiberglass and outer wrapper of the insulation. This should not be used on water pipes.

Most people if unable to get the inside or outside pipe diameter are still able to get the circumference of the pipe- that is the distance around the pipe. If you measure the circumference in inches and divide that by Pi (3.1416), that total will give you the outside diameter of the pipe. Then, match that number by the number in the chart under the outside pipe diameter column. For instance, if you measure the circumference of the pipe and get a measurement of 3.25, divide that by 3.1416 the total would be 1.034”, which matches up closely to the figure located next to the ¾” pipe insulation.

The galvanized pipes used in most dry cleaning facilities is sized using the measurements of the inside pipe diameter. If you are unsure of what size your pipes are, you can measure the outside diameter of the pipe. Typically there is about a ¼” difference between the inside and the outside diameters. For example, if you have a pipe with a 1” outside pipe diameter- than the inside pipe diameter is ¾” of an inch- and thus a ¾” pipe.

The pipe insulation has adhesive tape running through the middle of the 3-foot sections to seal the insulation closed once it’s on the pipes. It also comes with butt stripes, which are pieces of tape that will allow the 3-foot sections to be secured together.
